Sunshine |
This page provides information on the weather element known as Sunshine. |
What is Sunshine:
Sunshine is the amount of direct sunlight on the Earth's surface that is unbroken by clouds, etc.
HOW IS IT MEASURED?
Sunshine is measured with A device known as a Campbell - Stokes Sunshine Recorder. This device has a glass globe that focuses the Sun's rays onto a piece of paper at the back that has hourly markings, (as the Earth moves around the sun the marking moves with it). If there is sunshine then the concentrated rays of sunlight from the globe will leave burn marks on the paper thusly showing how many hours of sunshine there was. |
