Humidity |
This page provides information on the weather element known as Humidity. |
what is relative humidity?
Relative humidity refers to the amount of water vapour in the air compared to the amount it would hold if it was saturated.
How is it measured?
A HYGROMETER is used to measure Relative Humidity. A WET AND DRY BULB THERMOMETER is the most common type of HYGROMETER used. See an example of a WET AND DRY BULB THERMOMETER to the right: |
WHAT IS THE UNIT OF MEASUREMENT?
The difference in temperature between the two thermometers is used to find the relative humidity and is expressed as a percentage (%).
It is important to note that the greater the difference between the two temperatures , the lower the humidity.
